Sam's Club is now using artificial intelligence and a new camera system to scan customers' receipts at the door, instead of having employees check them.

Sam’s Club said this change allows members to exit faster and allows employees to refocus their time elsewhere. The new AI technology has been deployed in more than 120 Sam’s Club locations, or about 20% of its stores. Sam’s Club plans to deploy the exit technology to all its stores nationwide by the end of 2024.

Sam's Club is introducing artificial intelligence technology to verify purchases and expedite exits by 23%, initially unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show, with plans to implement it across all nearly 600 stores by year's end.
